Default Your move, Ken.....

Look what I got today... drove home 150 miles, my ears are still ringing from sitting 4 feet from the straight-piped exhuast of a 7.8 liter turbodiesel at 2400 rpm....

Its a 1971 M35A2. Its titled as a Jeep, its a little confusing how all those wroked. Pretty much in the 60s up through 70-71ish, they were built by Kaiser Jeep, then for a bit while they sold Jeep to AMC, they were called General Products Division of Jeep, then finally by 72 they were AM General. This is a 'General Products' truck, so they ended up just titling it as Jeep...

Anyway, its a basic M35A2. LDT-465-1D engine (non whistler turbo, tags on the engine show its from 1993), 5 speed manual with overdrive, 2 speed transfer case (shift high to low on the fly!!), 2.5 ton toploading rockwells with 6.72 gears. Soft top, troop seats, I have the bows and canvas for the rear to make the large cargo area. Garwood 10,000lb PTO driven front winch with 200ft of 1/2" cable. 40x9" NDT tires.

Don't worry there's still two tires on the ground.

Very nice.

But, no way I could get one without trading away something first. I just dont have the cash for it.

Where did you get it, and how much if I can ask?

Oh, and if my deal goes through it will be 350 miles or so in an M1008 and then 350 or so back home in an M818.

I got it from a guy up north in Hale, on steel soldiers.. I traded him a quad for it. I really need to be getting rid of a Jeep or two myself.... I guess value wise, in the $3500-$3700 range. Drives excellent, once you learn how to drive the thing. I drove I-75 home with John tailing me in my F150.

The BLLLLAAATTT from the exhuast puts a smile on my face every time I squeeze the pedal.....

Just drive it, and enjoy it.

Other than being big, its just like any other 40 yr old car. Parts are not hard to get, and reasonably priced. Cost wise, it isn't too bad. Stuff like a oil and filter change is a pain, 22 quart of oil, DOT5 brake fluid is pricy.

But, its like having a 60's pickup, really. I should have it plated this week. Insurance is really cheap, just drive it to work, to parades, etc.

Don't really plant to modify or wheel it much. Maybe eventually replace the 40" NDTs with some 47" michelins and single out the back. But thats about it.

This would be sweet to go in a big snowstorm. It does have the optional cab heater....
